Tezzbuzz Desk- In IPL 2026, Mumbai Indians performed brilliantly and registered a one-sided victory by defeating Gujarat Titans by 99 runs. In this victory, while Tilak Verma’s explosive century took the team to a strong score, the lethal bowling of young fast bowler Ashwini Kumar broke the back of Gujarat’s batting.
In this match played at Narendra Modi Stadium, Gujarat looked under pressure from the beginning while chasing the target of 200 runs. Ashwini Kumar, who joined the team as an impact player, took 4 important wickets for just 24 runs in his four over spell. He ended Gujarat’s hopes by sending captain Shubhman Gill, Rahul Tewatia, Rashid Khan and Shahrukh Khan to the pavilion.
After the match, Ashwini Kumar, while talking about his bowling strategy, said that he did not have any big plan, just decided to bowl as per the demand of the pitch. He told that hard length and back off length balls were proving effective, so he thought it better to stick to the same line. He also said that the use of short ball was part of the team’s strategy, which he had discussed with captain Hardik Pandya.
This is the second time that Ashwini Kumar has taken 4 wickets in an innings in IPL. Even before this, he had taken four wickets for 24 runs. On his performance, he said that whenever he gets a chance, he tries to do better for the team and today was a very special day for him.
Earlier, Mumbai Indians had scored 199 runs in 20 overs, in which Tilak Verma played an unbeaten inning of 101 runs. In reply, Gujarat team was reduced to just 100 runs in 15.5 overs. This was one of the biggest wins by Mumbai’s margin of runs in IPL history, while it was considered a very disappointing performance by Gujarat Titans.
