Rajesh Ranjan, known as Pappu Yadav, a Member of Parliament from Bihar, has come under fire for his recent remarks regarding women's participation in politics. His comments, which surfaced in a viral video, suggested that a significant majority of women are unable to engage in politics without the influence of male leaders.

During a press interaction, Yadav stated, "90 percent of women cannot do politics without going into a leader's room," which has drawn sharp criticism from various political figures, particularly from the BJP.

BJP spokesperson Shehzad Poonawala expressed his dismay on social media, highlighting the contradiction of such statements during a time when the nation is advocating for women's empowerment. Tuhin Sinha, another BJP leader, labeled Yadav's comments as both despicable and outrageous.

Yadav's remarks have prompted the Bihar Women's Commission to issue a notice, demanding an explanation within three days regarding why they should not recommend his disqualification to the Lok Sabha Speaker.

In response to the backlash, Yadav defended his statements, claiming he was merely highlighting the exploitation faced by women in various sectors, including politics and education. He criticized the Women's Commission for its inaction on other pressing issues affecting women.

He further elaborated on the systemic issues surrounding women's rights in India, referencing historical figures like Guru Gobind Singh and Raja Ram Mohan Roy, who advocated for women's rights. Yadav also raised concerns about the lack of representation for marginalized communities in various sectors.

The controversy continues to unfold as Yadav maintains that his comments were misinterpreted and that he has not made any obscene remarks about women.
