Mumbai Indians have received a significant boost before their highly-anticipated showdown against Chennai Super Kings in the Indian Premier League 2026. All-rounder Will Jacks from England has rejoined the team after taking a short break following a demanding international itinerary.
The 27-year-old was spotted training with the team prior to the high-voltage encounter, scheduled at the Wankhede Stadium on April 23. Jacks' availability will be a timely shot in the arm for the Mumbai franchise, which is endeavoring to gather some momentum in the season after a tardy start.
Mumbai Indians Get Timely Boost
Will Jacks took a brief break following a gruelling international schedule. Jacks played four out of five matches in The Ashes and then represented England in the white-ball series in Sri Lanka, apart from featuring in the ICC Men's T20 World Cup.
In the World Cup, Jacks was among England's top performers with both bat and ball. He amassed 226 runs and also claimed nine wickets while securing four 'Player of the Match' accolades during the course of the tournament despite England's exit from the semi-final stage.
Jacks' inclusion will undoubtedly add balance to Mumbai's side, both in the middle order and with the ball. His presence had been keenly anticipated.
Mumbai Indians Break Winless Streak
Mumbai Indians head into this game full of confidence following their first win in four matches in their previous game. They ran out comfortable 99-run winners against Gujarat Titans in their previous game, played at the Narendra Modi Stadium.
Their team work stood them in good stead on the night and an unbeaten 101 off 45 deliveries from Tilak Varma was to have a huge influence. He helped to take the match away with an outstanding knock that saw him smash 82 off his last 23 deliveries as Mumbai reached 199 for five.
Their bowlers then put in an excellent performance and dismissed Gujarat Titans for a meager 100 in just 15.5 overs, which included a four-wicket haul for Ashwani Kumar and a first wicket of the season for Jasprit Bumrah.
The win lifted Mumbai from bottom to seventh, their net run rate stands at +0.067, and they now look well placed to press on in their remaining fixtures.
With Will Jacks in the team once again and confidence on a high after an impressive victory they will be looking to continue that against Chennai Super Kings in what is going to be a pivotal encounter for both sides in this season's IPL 2026.
