Kobbie Mainoo is set to quadruple his wages after agreeing a new contract with Manchester United. The England midfielder has been in talks with club officials over the past three months. It is understood Mainoo is prepared to put pen to paper on a long-term deal worth £120,000-a-week, which will keep him at Old Trafford until 2031.
The development marks a remarkable reversal of fortunes for Mainoo, who celebrated his 21st birthday on Sunday. Just a matter of months ago, Mainoo had been on the verge of departing United to join Napoli on a six-month loan until the end of this season.
Mainoo had grown disillusioned with life at Old Trafford after former head coach Ruben Amorim repeatedly overlooked him. The midfielder feared his prospects of securing a place in England's World Cup squad would be severely hampered by Amorim's handling of him.

Yet when Amorim was dismissed and Michael Carrick stepped in as interim boss, Mainoo opted to stay at United.
Carrick restored Mainoo to the starting line-up, and the youngster has since played a pivotal role in United's climb to third place in the standings.
While Carrick is hesitant to become embroiled in contract discussions regarding his players, he has been eager to see Mainoo rewarded with fresh terms. It is understood Carrick spoke to club officials to convey Mainoo's long-term worth to the club.
Carrick also backed the club's decision to award Mainoo a substantial wage increase, reflecting his importance to the side both now and in the years ahead.
Mainoo reclaimed his spot in the England squad last month, and is becoming ever more confident that he will secure a place on the flight to the World Cup in North America in June.
