In Gorakhpur, Uttar Pradesh, a wedding took a chaotic turn when a jilted lover stormed the ceremony, creating a scene by applying sindoor on his ex-girlfriend's forehead. This unexpected act enraged the bride's family, leading to a violent confrontation where the lover was severely beaten, necessitating his hospitalization. The bridegroom and his relatives, witnessing the turmoil, initially refused to take the bride with them. However, after some negotiation, the situation was resolved by the end of the night.

According to reports, the incident occurred on Wednesday at Kusmahi Bazaar, where a wedding was being celebrated with great fanfare. Just as the festivities were in full swing, the bride's former lover made a dramatic entrance around 11 PM, reminiscent of a film scene. Armed with a hatchet, he approached the stage, causing panic among the guests. In a shocking move, he filled the bride's parting with sindoor, believing this would somehow lead to their reunion. This act provoked the ire of the villagers and family members, who quickly subdued him.

Amidst the chaos, someone alerted the police, who arrived from Jagdishpur outpost to restore order. The injured lover was taken to the hospital for treatment, where he remains under care.

Authorities revealed that the bride was from Kusmahi Bazaar, and her marriage had been arranged with a groom from a village in Deoria district. The wedding festivities commenced on May 12, and after the ceremonial rituals, the bride and groom were set to exchange garlands when the lover interrupted with his hatchet. The crowd's outrage led to his beating, prompting a police response that included transporting him to a medical facility.

Following the incident, the groom's family hesitated to continue with the wedding and initially refused to allow the bride's departure. However, after discussions and a mutual understanding, they eventually agreed to proceed with the marriage rituals, allowing the bride to leave with her new husband.
