New Delhi: A techie alleged that Deloitte revoked his offer letter without any explanation, after he resigned from his previous company and his notice period came to an end.
Sharing his ordeal on Instagram, Rajeev Ranjan said that he had successfully cleared all interview rounds and received a formal offer letter. He said he had submitted his resignation to the previous company. However, the consulting giant revoked the offer letter as he failed the background verification process.
“It really hurts when you try your best, crack the Big 4, and finally get the offer, and then one morning, you see this,” he said, showing an email from Deloitte’s background investigation team. The email informed him that a “discrepancy review” had been completed and the company would not be proceeding with his employment.

“It hits hard. Honestly, it hurts even more than a breakup. And I already resigned from my company, and my notice period has ended. I don’t know whether to laugh or cry,” he added.
The software engineer further said that company’s HR team did not give him a clear reason behind the failed background verification. He asked the company for details but it refused, citing them confidential. “I don’t understand what’s confidential about it. I cleared the interview, I passed all the rounds. If I was informed what the problem is, I could have helped resolve it,” he said.
He also alleged that he was asked not to contact the HR team again and was informed that he had been “blacklisted,” which made him ineligible to apply to the company in the future.
