A fire broke out at the Pachpadra refinery in Balotra just a day before its scheduled inauguration by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, officials confirmed on Monday.
Emergency response teams, including multiple fire tenders, were immediately deployed to the site, and efforts to control the blaze were ongoing. There were no immediate reports of casualties.
Preliminary information suggests that the fire originated in the Crude Distillation Unit (CDU) section of the refinery.
The Pachpadra facility is India’s first greenfield integrated refinery-cum-petrochemical complex and is considered a major development in the country’s energy sector. Built with an investment exceeding Rs.79,450 crore, the project marks a significant milestone in expanding India’s refining and petrochemical capabilities.
