Administrators running a West Yorkshire furniture group that collapsed earlier this year are auctioning off more than 2,000 items, including equipment and stock. Moores Furniture Group was put under the stewardship of insolvency practitioners from Interpath in January, with the Wetherby-based firm citing "challenging trading conditions".

Joint administrators Will Wright and James Clark confirmed the sale of the company's customer list and certain other intellectual property assets to Wren Kitchens Ltd subsidiary Wren Trade Kitchens Ltd as part of a pre-pack deal soon after being appointed, BBC News reports. It was also confirmed in January that around 124 of its approximately 450-strong workforce had been made redunant.

336 staff were kept on to help with the completion of some work.

A notice on Moores Furniture Group's website notifying customers of the changes to the business says as well as purchasing certain IP, Wren Kitchens has welcomed a "substantial number of former Moores employees in key areas, who bring with them a wealth of experience".

The site now redirects to Wren's website.

Property consultancy Walker Singleton was appointed sell off all Moore's assets via online auction. Bids for the first round of assets, including woodworking, engineering storage & handling equipment closed on Thursday, April 16.

Further auctions will be held for the rest of the items across three phases, as Interpath looks to clear out the furniture group's huge 550,000 sq ft, 35-acre Thorp Arch Estate site, Yorkshire Post reports.

In a statement in January, Mr Clark, who is also managing director at Interpath, said: "The strong headwinds facing the UK construction industry continue to have an impact on companies up and down the supply chain.

"Against this backdrop, we are pleased to have been able to secure a transaction which provides an opportunity to minimise disruption for customers and suppliers, and which will enable Moores' heritage in kitchen manufacturing to continue as part of the Wren family."

The business' journey began back in 1947 when founder George Moore launched G A Moore Joinery in Bingley, West Yorkshire.

They moved to the Thorp Arch Estate premises in 1960 and expanded their offering to become a major UK kitchen manufacturer.
