Mahindra is now a major player in India’s electric mobility space. It has now marked another major moment by delivering 610 electric SUVs on a single day, during Akshaya Tritiya. Interestingly, this isn’t even the first time that we have seen the carmaker conduct a milestone delivery. Last month too, it had delivered over 600 electric SUVs on a single day, during Ugadi.

A post shared on the official social media handles of Mahindra Electric SUVs confirms the sales milestone. It says that over 610 electric Mahindra SUVs found homes on Akshaya Tritiya. This year, it was celebrated on April 19th.

Akshaya Tritiya is considered one of the most auspicious days in the Hindu calendar to buy Gold, cars, and for new beginnings in general. The day represents eternal prosperity. India usually records a high number of purchases on this day, especially of long-term, high-value assets. Buyers usually prefer to have their new cars delivered on this day and plan accordingly, due to its auspicious nature.

Mahindra’s milestone delivery, as indicated by the image they shared on social media, included the three Electric Origin SUVs- BE6, XEV 9S and XEV 9e. All three continue to be in good demand and the milestone delivery event underlines the same.

The number of e-SUVs that Mahindra managed to deliver on Akshaya Tritiya is, in fact, more than the total EV sales posted by manufacturers like Hyundai, Kia and even BYD in March 2026. Hyundai sold 508 EVs in March this year while Kia managed to sell 469 units. BYD, on the other hand, posted sales of 428 units last month.

Mahindra posted sales of 5,461 electric SUVs in March, marking a 71% month-on-month increase over February. These numbers include the Ugadi deliveries as well.

During Ugadi this year, Mahindra commenced deliveries of over 600 electric SUVs. Like Akshaya Tritiya, Ugadi is also considered an auspicious occasion to buy new cars. It is, in fact, the Hindu new year festival. Here too, the vehicles delivered were the Electric Origin SUVs.

Mahindra’s success in the EV space is largely driven by its Electric Origin range. The lineup includes the BE6, BE6 Formula E (FE), XEV 9e, XEV 9e Cineluxe, and the recently-launched XEV 9S. These are all based on the INGLO skateboard platform and offer battery pack choices like 59kWh, 79 kWh and a 70kWh on the 9S. The Electric Origin range is for people who are looking for e-SUVs with strong road presence and modern features. They have consistently been witnessing good demand.

For example, Mahindra sold over 30,000 units of the XEV 9e and BE6 in the first seven months of their launch. That meant roughly one Mahindra EV sold every 10 minutes during that period. This is particularly impressive considering their premium positioning. The BE6 starts at around Rs 18.9 lakh, while the XEV 9e begins at approximately Rs 21.9 lakh (both ex-showroom).

Their aspirational value also played a role in shaping the success. Today, many celebrities, business leaders, and public figures use these vehicles- boosting their visibility and desirability.

Even the XEV 9S that came a year later, witnessed strong demand. It is Mahindra’s first three-row electric SUV and has already become one of its best-selling EVs. Demand remains high, and while the company is working to scale deliveries, the 9S still commands a waiting period. However, this is expected to ease in the coming months.
