A sausage and bacon supplier with 121 years of trading history has collapsed into liquidation.
Puddledub Pork and Fifeshire Bacon Company Limited, the family-run farm known as Puddledub, has been in operation since 1905.
The West Fife, Scotland-based business appointed liquidators on April 15, 2026, following a winding-up petition filed on January 30, 2026.
The Mitchell family have farmed at Clentrie Farm since the early 1900s, with their ancestors having worked the land in the Fife area for more than 300 years.
Callum Angus Carmichael and Michelle Elliot, both of FRP Advisory Trading Limited, have now been named Joint Liquidators of the company.
The Scottish firm prided itself on traditional butchery methods, dry-curing its bacon and hand-linking every single sausage it produced.
The award-winning business claimed several accolades throughout its history, including two in its final year of trading.
In 2025, it was crowned Best Small Butchery Business in Scotland at the Butchery Business Winners Awards, and also scooped a Farm Shop and Deli Retailers Award 2025.
The company supplied farm shops and delis across the country, offering a range of wholesale products.
The news arrives at a deeply troubled time for Britain's agricultural sector. According to Famers Online, more than a third of UK farms could be forced to close within the next five years owing to changes made to inheritance tax (IHT).
Beyond this anxiety, the ongoing conflict has sparked additional worry amongst farmers, with rising energy prices threatening to affect livestock numbers.
