An iconic pier has been named as having the strongest reviewed in England - and it's not Blackpool,Brighton or Bournemouth. Cromer Pier is an iconic Grade II-listed Victorian structure in the town of Cromer on the north coast of Norfolk.
It's home to the only "full season end of the pier show anywhere in the world", according to its website. The team behind the iconic landmark's jam-packed schedule of theatre and music says The Cromer Pier Show and The Cromer Pier Christmas Show "guarantee a celebration of live variety entertainment, West End quality right here in North Norfolk".
"Every year over 80 touring shows also visit the Pavilion Theatre, from comedy and magic to tribute acts and concerts."
And while it doesn't feature rides and ferris wheels like some other classic British piers there's plenty to see and do. It has a number of smaller amusements, as well as food and refreshment options including the Pavillion Bar, and The Tides cafe dotted along its 151-metre-long stretch into the North Sea.
TripAdvisor ranks attractions across the UK based on reviews, taking into account the quantity, quality and recency of them to give you a clearer picture of the most popular destinations.
On its page that draws together reviews for Piers and Boardwalks in England, Cromer ranks as the top pier with a rating of 4.6/5 from over 3,000 reviews, beating out the likes of Brighton Palace Pier in third, and Clacton Pier in fourth.
One TripAdvisor reviewer writing in September last year said: "A beautiful scenery across the sea greeted us this evening to attend our local theatre. A wonderful local theatre, staff were all very friendly and a fantastic service.
"We watched Jonny Cash tribute, we loved every moment and it great to see my husband joining in and singing away."
Another, writing in November, praised the cafe's "amazing food". "Christmassy without having to go full Christmas dinner - though you can if you wish.
"We didn't partake of deserts but they looked amazing. Dog friendly and lovely service too - what's not to love!"
A third wrote: "Lovely Pier. Traditional in style but well appointed with toilets and plenty of seating and places for refreshments. Not the biggest pier but a nice length to amble along.
"Interesting Lifeboat station at the end with an RNLI shop. Pavillion theatre too open to the public for refreshments. Lovely to sit in the pavillion and enjoy a coffee or a drink or two."
