Akshay Tritiya Panchamrit Recipe: The tradition of distributing Panchamrit prasad at the conclusion of any puja, ritual or special festival in Hinduism is centuries old. Especially on extremely auspicious occasions like Akshaya Tritiya, offering Panchamrit to God is considered very auspicious. Panchamrit, which is also called Charanamrit at many places, is made up of two words: Panch, meaning five, and Amrit, i.e. the drink of the gods or the immortalizing element. This sacred drink is prepared from a mixture of five special ingredients, each of which has its own unique spiritual and health significance.
Panchamrit and their meanings
According to the scriptures, the five things mixed in Panchamrit represent different aspects of our life.
- Milk: It is considered a symbol of purity and peace. This gives Panchamrit a smooth and creamy texture.
- Curd: Curd represents strength and prosperity. It makes the mixture thick and is also considered good for digestion.
- Honey: It brings sweetness, togetherness and kindness in life. Honey gives this prasad a mild aroma and natural taste.
- Ghee: Ghee has been associated with devotion, positivity and purity. This imparts a rich flavor to Panchamrit.
- Jaggery or dates: Using jaggery or dates in place of sugar is considered more traditional and healthier. It is a symbol of happiness and joy.
Treasure of Health and Nutrition
Panchamrit is not only a religious offering but is also an excellent source of nutrition. The milk and curd present in it are rich in calcium and protein which strengthen the bones. Honey and jaggery are instant sources of energy while ghee contains healthy fats. If basil leaves are added to it, it becomes even more beneficial and refreshing.
How to prepare at home
For the worship of Akshaya Tritiya, you can prepare it with the simple method given below.
