In Auraiya, a troubling incident unfolded when a young man was forcibly taken from his home for not attending a Buddhist event. He was made to apologize in front of a statue of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, where he was also subjected to physical exercises as a form of punishment. This shocking event was captured on video and has since gone viral on social media.
The incident occurred in Uttar Pradesh's Auraiya district, where the young man was reportedly taken against his will due to his absence from a Buddhist gathering. The video of the incident sparked outrage online, although the authenticity of the footage has not been confirmed by any news outlet. Following the video's circulation, local police, including the Assistant Superintendent of Police and Circle Officer, arrived at the village to manage the situation. Both parties involved have filed complaints, leading to the arrest of four individuals.
Details of the Incident
The Buddhist event took place in Dwarkapur village from April 6 to April 13. Tensions arose when some members of the Pal community did not participate in the event. According to local resident Atan Pal, a group of individuals came to his home, assaulted him, and dragged him to Ambedkar Park in the neighboring village of Kazipur. There, he was forced to apologize by holding his ears and performing squats in front of the statue of Baba Saheb.
The aggressors demanded that he express remorse for his absence, stating he should promise not to repeat such behavior. The viral nature of the video prompted immediate action from law enforcement, with ASP Alok Mishra and other police personnel arriving to address the situation and speak with villagers.
Legal Actions Taken
Atan Pal filed a complaint against several individuals, including Prabal Pratap, Nilesh alias Kallu, Ramkishan, Abhishek, and Bharat Singh, along with 25-30 unidentified persons. Conversely, the opposing group also lodged a complaint, alleging that some individuals had disrespected posters of Baba Saheb and used offensive language. The Assistant Superintendent of Police confirmed that cases have been registered based on both complaints, and four arrests have been made. The dispute reportedly originated from a disagreement among children regarding flag placement. Investigations are ongoing to ascertain the facts, and strict action will be taken against those found guilty.
