The situation surrounding the alleged sex scandal and conversion racket at Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) Nashik unit has taken a surprising turn. Recent reports indicate that Nida Khan, who was previously identified as the HR head, actually worked as a telecaller within the company. This revelation has shocked many across the nation. Complaints have surfaced claiming that the accused operated as a gang, primarily targeting female employees aged between 18 and 25. So far, nine FIRs have been filed, including one from a male employee who alleged religious harassment and attempts at forced conversion. The complaints detail accusations of disrespect towards Hindu deities, coercion to consume non-vegetarian food, religious persecution, and pressure to adhere to specific religious practices.

Arrests Made and Work Suspension

To date, eight individuals have been arrested, comprising seven men—Danish Sheikh, Tausif Attar, Raza Memon, Shah Rukh Qureshi, Shafi Sheikh, Asif Aftab Ansari, and Shah Rukh Sheikh—and one woman. Authorities revealed that some of these suspects held senior positions within the company and allegedly misused their authority to harass colleagues. An official claimed that Nida Khan discouraged a female employee from filing a complaint, stating, "Such things happen all the time."

Earlier in the day, it was reported that operations at the unit had been temporarily halted, with employees instructed to work from home until further notice. However, sources informed that the office remained open on Thursday, with around 60 employees present. The office was neither sealed nor closed, allowing staff the option to work from home or come into the office.

Increase in Sexual Harassment Complaints

When questioned about the rise in sexual harassment complaints in TCS's annual disclosures since 2021, sources indicated that this increase is attributed to improvements in internal systems and processes implemented in recent years. These enhancements were particularly aimed at creating a safer environment for female employees. The initiatives have raised awareness among staff and increased the likelihood of formal complaints being lodged under the 'Prevention of Sexual Harassment' (POSH) framework.

Sources suggested that this trend does not necessarily reflect a proportional increase in incidents of misconduct but rather indicates growing trust in the grievance redressal mechanism and improved access to complaint registration channels. Continuous focus on awareness programs and employee training has strengthened the internal reporting system, enabling employees to express their concerns more comfortably through formal channels.
