The Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) have established themselves as highly competitive. The 2016 Indian Premier League (IPL) champions have successfully recovered from their initial difficulties. Sakib Hussain and Praful Hinge made their IPL debuts by achieving four-wicket hauls against the top-ranked Rajasthan Royals (RR) team.
The bowling unit has transitioned from being their most vulnerable component to showing equal strength across all team areas. The current system has achieved its optimum efficiency according to its present structure. SRH captain Pat Cummins will make his first IPL 2026 appearance on April 18 against the Chennai Super Kings at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad.
Cummins had previously stated that he would miss approximately seven to eight games but reports now indicate that he will miss only five games. He joined SRH on March 27, just a day before their IPL 2026 opener against the Royal Challengers Bengaluru.
He went back to his house to inform Cricket Australia about his situation. He has dedicated the last two weeks to achieving complete physical recovery. The time for the significant event has now reached its scheduled point. Cummins will undergo a fitness assessment on April 15 which will decide his return to SRH. Current signs predict that he will succeed and reach Hyderabad on April 17.
The organization of CA has shown dedicated commitment to safeguarding player health through their medical practices which they use to monitor professional athletes. Cummins has not played any matches yet. Mitchell Starc has not received a No Objection Certificate (NOC), and his arrival for Delhi Capitals does not seem close. Starc will be absent from Delhi for a minimum of five games.

Cameron Green received his authorization to bowl for Kolkata Knight Riders on April 9 after the team had already lost two of their first three games. Punjab Kings all-rounder Cooper Connolly has only received approval to play as a batter, despite showing strong bowling ability in the Big Bash League.
CA will not provide an NOC until they determine Cummins readiness for competitive cricket. He serves Australia more important duties as their Test and ODI captain than he does for his role with SRH. CA will always prioritize their national interests over the IPL franchise and even Cummins’ wish to represent Hyderabad.
