According to Hindu religious texts, Lord Brahma is the creator of the universe. It is believed that this world came into existence due to his grace, but the surprising thing is that despite being the creator of the universe, he has only one major temple on earth, where he is worshipped. This temple is located in Pushkar, Rajasthan. There is a mythological story associated with this temple, after knowing which it is understandable why Lord Brahma is worshiped only here.

According to a famous legend to Lord Brahma, he was cursed by his wife Goddess Savitri. Due to this curse, despite being a deity, he is not worshiped in other places. However, he is still worshiped in the temple located in Pushkar. Now the question arises that why did Goddess Savitri give such a curse and why did Pushkar become the only place?

Specialty of Brahma Temple of Pushkar

There is a sacred lake in Pushkar, Rajasthan, near which the temple of Lord Brahma is situated. According to mythological beliefs, this temple was built about 2000 years ago. Devotees from all over the country and abroad come here for darshan, especially in the month of Kartik there is a huge crowd here. The lake located near the temple further enhances its beauty.

Mythology to Lord Brahma

According to Padma Purana, a demon named Vajranash was troubling people on earth. Lord Brahma killed him to free him from his atrocities. At the same time, three lotus flowers fell from his hand on the earth, which created three sacred lakes. One of these places was called Pushkar, where later the temple of Lord Brahma was established.

According to the legend of Padma Purana, Lord Brahma organized a yagya near Pushkar Lake to protect the creation. It was mandatory for his wife Devi Savitri to be present in this Yagya but she could not reach on time. The auspicious time for the Yagya was approaching, so Lord Brahma manifested a girl named Gayatri from the mouth of Nandini cow and married her so that the Yagya could be completed on time. After this he sat with Gayatri and started performing yagya.

When the Yagya started, Goddess Savitri reached there. She became angry after seeing Gayatri sitting near Brahma ji. In anger, he cursed Lord Brahma that he would not be worshiped anywhere on earth. When her anger subsided, on the request of Lord Brahma, Savitri relaxed her curse and said that she would be worshiped only in Pushkar. This is the reason that even today Lord Brahma is worshiped mainly only in this temple of Pushkar.
