Bike Ban Expressway: In the last few years, the network of expressways is expanding rapidly in India, so that people can cover long distances in less time. But not all types of vehicles are allowed to run on these high-speed roads. Especially two-wheelers i.e. bikes have been completely banned on many expressways. Violating the rules attracts heavy fines and in some cases the vehicle can even be confiscated.

NHAI’s big reason: Safety first

According to the National Highway Authority (NHAI), Expressways have been specially designed for high-speed vehicles. In such a situation, slow vehicles affect the traffic flow and increase the risk of accidents. To reduce this risk, bikes and other slow vehicles have been banned on many expressways.

Delhi-Dehradun Expressway: Strict rules implemented

Motorcycles, auto-rickshaws, tractors and non-motor vehicles are completely banned on this high-speed expressway connecting Delhi to Dehradun. If someone breaks these rules, a heavy fine of up to Rs 20,000 can be imposed on him.

Delhi-Mumbai Expressway: Country’s longest, but toughest

Riding a bike is completely prohibited even on the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway. The speed limit here is up to 120 km/h, which can prove to be very dangerous for two-wheelers. For breaking the rules, a challan of Rs 5,000 or more can be issued.

Delhi-Meerut Expressway: Threat of heavy fine

If you are caught riding a bike on the Delhi-Meerut Expressway, you may have to pay a fine of up to Rs 20,000. The speed of cars here is more than 100 km/hour, while the average speed of bikes is much less than this, due to which the risk of accident increases.

Mumbai-Pune Expressway: Bike entry completely closed

Taking bike is also prohibited on Mumbai-Pune Expressway. If someone does this, a fine of Rs 5,000 or more can be imposed under the Motor Vehicle Act.

Ban on Delhi-Gurugram and Dwarka Expressway also

There is no entry for two-wheelers even on Delhi-Gurugram and Dwarka Expressway. Strict action is taken if rules are broken. Apart from this, riding bikes is also prohibited in some parts of Eastern Peripheral Expressway, Bengaluru-Mysore Expressway and Purvanchal Corridor.

Avoid breaking rules, travel safely

Riding a bike on the expressway is not only illegal but can also be a threat to your life. So follow the rules and travel safely.
