Bradley Walsh is said to be one of BBC producers' favourites to join Strictly Come Dancing as the new host, but he could be facing a conundrum that might 'jeopardise his son's future'. The beloved TV presenter has joined his son, Barney, to co-host the nineties hit show Gladiators.
The Saturday night show has spanned three series, two celebrity versions and a CBBC spin-off. But since Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman both stepped back from Strictly last year, the 65-year-old has become the frontrunner for hosting the dance show. A TV insider said his career could be at stake.
A source told The Sun that BBC is "unlikely" to let Bradley host two big Saturday night shows. They said: "Producers want stars to be synonymous with those shows, and doing two big entertainment blockbusters on the BBC doesn't sit well with channel chiefs, so does Bradley stay on Gladiators and secure his son's future, or go to the job of a lifetime - and joepardise his son's future?"
Bradley also did a travel show, Breaking Dad, with his son and he opened up in an interview, saying: "It's one of the most wonderful things I've ever done because spending time with my lad."
It is understood that Bradley has a close relationship with his son, and he "has helped him throughout his career".
Other than Bradley, Rylan Clark and pro dancer Johannes Radebe are also said to be on the shortlist. The successful presenter would likely front the BBC show alongside a female host.
Alison Hammond previously mentioned that she is "too busy" and has turned down the opportunity to host Strictly, but now she backtracked, clarifying: "Do you think I would turn down Strictly if Strictly came along? Who would turn down Strictly! They'd be absolutely crazy."
