The final voter list has been released with the conclusion of the 166-day long Special Intensive Revision (SIR) campaign in Uttar Pradesh. Under this process, a total of 2,04,45,300 names have been removed from the voter list of the state, which is 13.21 percent of the total voters before revision.
The total number of voters before the start of the SIR process in the state was around 15.44 crore. However, in the draft list released on January 6, 2026, about 2.88 crore names were deleted after the first phase, while more than 84 lakh new voters were added. According to the final list, there are now a total of 13,39,84,792 voters in Uttar Pradesh.
“The SIR exercise ran from October 27, 2025, to April 10, 2026, covering all 75 districts, 403 assembly constituencies and polling stations across the state. The 166-day initiative required massive collaboration among officials, including 75 District Election Officers (DEOs), 403 Electoral Officers (Electoral Officers) and Registration Officers (EROs), 12,758 Assistant EROs, 18,026 BLO Supervisors and 1,77,516 Booth Level Officers (BLOs).”
He said that the final voter list includes 7,30,71,071 male (about 54%), 6,09,09,525 female (45.46%) and 4,206 third gender voters. He said, “There has been a significant increase in the number of voters aged 18-19 years, which has increased to 17,63,360, which is 1.32% of the voters. The gender ratio has also improved and now there are 834 female voters for every 1,000 male voters, which is 824 more than in the draft roll. The total number of voters compared to the draft roll is 84,28,767.” There has been an increase.”
In the district-wise data, Prayagraj added the maximum number of new voters at 3,29,421, followed by Lucknow (2,85,961), Bareilly (2,57,920), Ghaziabad (2,43,666) and Jaunpur (2,37,590). At the same time, the highest percentage of names were removed in districts like Lucknow (22.89%), Ghaziabad (20.84%), Kanpur Nagar (19.42%) and Gautam Buddha Nagar (19.33%).
The Chief Electoral Officer said that the success of this massive process is the result of coordinated efforts of election officials, political parties and voters.
However, the opposition has raised serious questions regarding this entire process. Congress has reacted sharply to SIR, calling it an attempt to manipulate the voter list. Uttar Pradesh Congress President Ajay Rai alleged, “The main objective of this work was to remove voters who support forces against the ruling government. Many BLOs in UP died due to pressure from senior officials. I was told that they were asked to delete the names of Congress supporters. We demand accountability on these deaths. This work was an institutionalized way to steal votes.”
