Beyond Paradise fans are worried that Humphrey Goodman, played by Kris Marshall, could be about to exit Shipton Abbott after watching the first episode of series four. Humphrey was told by his superior that he had to dismiss one of his colleagues due to budget constraints, and fans are now convinced that the kind-hearted detective will decide to take one for the team and leave the role.
Not only that, they fear that he and Martha could return to Saint Marie, leading to a new detective taking over the role at the station and on the series. One fan asked: "Could this be his last outing as they are looking to reduce staff? May he goes to save the others?" A second agreed: "Could be Humphrey, maybe he and Martha go back to Saint Marie?" A third said: "I'd love for this to happen," while another suggested: "Humphrey leaves to save the station and takes a job in Saint Marie."
If Kris Marshall were to leave the role, it would leave the question of who would replace him. The franchise is no stranger to replacing the lead detective, with Death in Paradise seeing a number of people in the lead role.
Names that have been mentioned before are Ralf Little, who played Neville Parker on Death in Paradise, as well as Mathew Horne from Gavin and Stacey, Tom Brittney from Grantchester, and even Miranda Hart, who could be the first female detective on the BBC series franchise.
Meanwhile, the cast for the Friday, April 10, episode have been confirmed. Morris dancing takes a fatal turn when one of Margo's (Felicity Montagu) collapses mid-performance.
It appears an allergic reaction is the cause, but investigators soon find worrying evidence suggesting foul play.
EastEnders star Phil Daniels, Gina Bramhill, Vincent Franklin, Rebecca Knight, and Alec Nicholls have been announced as the guest roles for the latest episode.
Beyond Paradise airs Fridays at 8pm on BBC1.
