Lucknow Super Giants: Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) started IPL 2026 with a defeat. But after this, a strong comeback was seen from the team and it has won 2 consecutive matches. Meanwhile, the Lucknow team has suffered a big setback. One star bowler of the team is out of the entire season. In such a situation, now a South African player is going to enter the IPL as a replacement, who has not played in the IPL yet.

This star player is out of LSG

Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) star Sri Lankan spin all-rounder Wanindu Hasaranga has been ruled out of the entire tournament and will not be able to join the team. LSG Cricket Director Tom Moody gave this information on Thursday (9 April 2026) during the ongoing match against Kolkata Knight Riders at Eden Gardens. Moody said that Hasaranga will not be able to join the team and the replacement process is going on fast. He told that the replacement will be announced in the next 24 to 48 hours.

According to reports, to fill this vacant position, the franchise has selected experienced South African spinner George Linde. The team also considered other foreign spinners like Afghanistan's Mujeeb Ur Rahman and England's Liam Dawson, but in the end 34-year-old South African spinner Linde has been given priority. George Linde is a very experienced bowler in T20 format. He has taken 218 wickets in 250 T20 matches and his economy has been only 7.42. He is a left arm spinner and can also bat.

Will LSG performance be affected?

Wanindu Hasaranga is counted among the most successful T20 bowlers at present. However, Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) will not miss him. The team has domestic spinners like Manimaran Siddharth and Digvesh Singh Rathi. At the same time, the arrival of George Linde will further strengthen the team.
