Char Dham Yatra 2026 Guide: Preparations for the Char Dham Yatra have already begun for the year 2026. If you are planning to undertake the complete Char Dham Yatra—or even just a pilgrimage to Kedarnath or Badrinath—you must keep certain key points in mind and strictly adhere to the guidelines and regulations issued by the Government of Uttarakhand. Doing so will ensure that your journey is smooth and hassle-free, allowing you to complete your Char Dham pilgrimage with ease and comfort. The Char Dham Yatra in Uttarakhand encompasses the four holy sites of Gangotri, Yamunotri, Kedarnath, and Badrinath.

**Dates for the Opening of Temple Gates (Kapat)**
April 19, 2026: The gates of Yamunotri and Gangotri will open.
April 22, 2026: The gates of Kedarnath will open.
April 23, 2026: The gates of Badrinath Dham will open.

**Char Dham Yatra 2026: 5 Essential Points**
**Registration:** Online registration for the Char Dham Yatra commenced on March 6. For those who prefer not to register online, offline registration facilities will be available starting April 17.

**Where to Register Online?**
Online registration for the Char Dham Yatra can be completed via the Government of Uttarakhand's official website: registrationandtouristcare.uk.gov.in. Additionally, you can register using the dedicated mobile application, "Tourist Care Uttarakhand."

**Registration via WhatsApp**

The Government of Uttarakhand has also introduced a registration facility via WhatsApp. Simply save the number 8394833833 to your mobile phone contacts. Then, open this contact in your WhatsApp application, type the word "Yatra," and send the message. Following this, you will receive a step-by-step guide to the registration process; please follow these instructions to complete your registration.

**Where to Register Offline?**

Offline registration for the Char Dham Yatra will commence in Rishikesh. Within the Char Dham Transit Camp, 12 registration counters will be set up at various designated locations. Pilgrim registration will be conducted in two distinct shifts. Registration facilities will also be available at six counters located within the ISBT (Inter-State Bus Terminus) Rishikesh complex. Furthermore, four additional counters will be established within the Gurudwara complex situated on Laxman Jhula Road. Additionally, registration centers will also open at Rishikul Ground in Haridwar and Vikas Nagar in Dehradun.

**Documents Required for Char Dham Yatra Registration**
Registration for Indian pilgrims will be conducted using their Aadhaar Cards. If you intend to undertake the Char Dham Yatra, please ensure you carry your Aadhaar Card with you.
Foreign pilgrims will have the option to register using their email IDs.
Those who do not possess an Aadhaar Card may complete their registration offline at the designated registration counters.

**What is the Registration Fee?**
There is no fee for Char Dham Yatra registration; you may register completely free of cost.
The government has requested that all pilgrims make their registration mandatory, as this will facilitate easier tracking of all travelers.

**Important Points Regarding the Char Dham Yatra**
For individuals suffering from respiratory or cardiac ailments, the Char Dham Yatra may pose significant challenges and risks.
Pilgrims aged 55 years and above are required to submit a Medical Fitness Certificate, which must have been issued no earlier than 72 hours (i.e., within 3 days) before the journey.
Biometric verification has been made mandatory for all pilgrims during this year's Yatra.

**Helicopter Services for the Char Dham Yatra**
For those wishing to undertake the Char Dham Yatra by helicopter, the fare has been fixed at ₹1,50,000 per person. The journey will commence from Dehradun on the first day, proceeding to Yamunotri. On the second day, the journey continues from Kharsali to Gangotri; on the third day, from Gangotri to Kedarnath; and on the fourth day, from Guptkashi to Badrinath. This entire pilgrimage spans four days.
