Washington Sundar is an Indian international cricketer and an all-rounder who is a left-handed batter and right-arm off-spinner. He was born on 5 October 1999, in Chennai, Tamil Nadu representing Tamil Nadu in domestic cricket, and currently playing for the Gujarat Titans in IPL. 

Sundar has been part of the Indian team, which has won the 2023 Asia Cup, 2025 Champions Trophy, and 2026 T20 World Cup. He has a reputation for bowling economically during power play and providing the team with valuable runs towards the bottom of the innings, and has continuously established himself as one of the most reliable all-rounders in India in all formats.

Washington Sundar debuted in IPL, replacing an injured Ravichandran Ashwin with the Rising Pune Supergiant in 2017. In the first leg of the qualifier between the Mumbai Indians and the Pune Supergiants, he got the Player of the Match award, in which he had taken 3 wickets and earned 16 runs, which immediately put him on the map as a star in T20.

He had his finest IPL season in 2020, bowling eight over 15 games and with an average of less than six per over of his wickets, quite an achievement at the powerplay as a spinner.

Washington Sundar made his IPL debut in 2017 as a replacement for Ravichandran Ashwin in the Rising Pune Supergiant squad, being picked for ₹10 lakh. He was later auctioned to Royal Challengers Bangalore in 2018, at 3.2 crore, and spent four seasons with the team. In the 2022 IPL Auction, he was bought by the Sunrisers Hyderabad for ₹8.75 crore, the highest price of his IPL career. Gujarat Titans bought Washington Sundar at the auction during the IPL 2025, for ₹3.2 crore.
