packed snacks
Packed snacks are responsible for increasing the amount of sugar (glucose) in the blood. Snacks like chips, wafers, cookies not only contain a lot of salt but are also made of refined flour and rapidly increase the blood sugar levels in the body. This is very dangerous for diabetic patients. Their consumption for a long time can cause great harm to the patients. If you feel like eating snacks, then first read the amount of carbohydrates given in their packets and choose such snacks which have less carbs. If diabetic patients consume a handful of nuts instead of oily snacks, their blood sugar will also remain under control and they will also get many nutrients.
alcoholic drinks
Alcoholic drinks are rich in sugar and carbs. This is the reason why people suffering from diabetes are advised to reduce their consumption of beer and wine. Doctors especially advise patients taking diabetes medicines to strictly avoid heavy drinking as it can lead to hypoglycemia (excessive drop in blood sugar). Prolonged hypoglycemia can be dangerous and can even result in the death of a person.
fruit juice
You will be surprised to know that fruit juice is also very harmful for diabetic patients. Like dry fruits, fruit juices also contain a lot of sugar which increases blood sugar rapidly. They are full of vitamins and minerals but due to the sugar present in them, diabetic patients should consume the juice with caution.
dry fruit
Fruits already contain a lot of sugar, whereas their dry form contains even more sugar. Carbs are also found in abundance in these. For example, one cup of grapes contains 27 grams of carbs. Whereas 115 grams of carbs are found in one cup of raisins. The carbohydrate level of raisins is three times more than that of grapes, due to which the blood sugar level of a diabetic patient can increase rapidly. In such a situation, diabetic patients should keep in mind that they should always consume dry fruits with less sugar. Many dry fruits including almonds, apricots, mulberries and peanuts contain less sugar and are also rich in many nutrients.
Fried Foods
Fried foods are full of calories which can increase blood sugar levels. These food items first increase the glucose level in the blood and since the fats found in them take time to digest, they keep the blood sugar high for a long time. Not only fat, they are also rich in harmful trans fat (fat found in cookies, cakes, pizza and burgers etc.) which also increases the risk of many other diseases.
