A software engineer recently shared his career journey, in which he told how his salary increased from Rs 10,000 per month to Rs 3.5 lakh. He shared this story on the Developers India community and told that different decisions and continuous hard work were the keys to his success.
Took a different decision in the beginning
He started his career after finishing college in 2018. While he was offered a job of Rs 25,000 per month, he rejected it and chose an internship at a Bengaluru startup with a stipend of Rs 10,000. His aim was clear to learn the real work from the beginning.
Focus on learning in difficult situations
During his internship he lived on very little money. Lived with roommates in a small flat and kept expenses very limited. During this time, he learned technologies like React and Node.js and solved system problems overnight.
Salary increased gradually
In 2019, he got a full-time job in the same company at a salary of Rs 25,000 per month. Then in 2020, the salary increased to Rs 35,000 and he became a full-stack developer. In 2021, his salary reached Rs 45,000 and after some time it increased to Rs 80,000.
Big opportunity through new skills
He emphasized on learning blockchain technology. Strengthened my skills by taking online courses, coding practice and working on GitHub projects. After this he received offers from many companies and his salary almost doubled.
Got a big break from LinkedIn
In 2022, a French company saw his profile on LinkedIn and after the interview, offered him a remote job of Rs 3.5 lakh per month. This was four times more than his previous salary. He accepted this opportunity and also started his own startup.
built my startup
In 2024, he left his job and focused entirely on his startup Teckas Technologies. Today his company is working with clients from India, Europe and America and is continuously growing.
What did you learn from this journey?
He admitted that initially he did not focus on any one particular skill and ignored financial planning. But his biggest decision in the beginning was to give priority to learning instead of salary, which became the biggest reason for his success.
Overall, this story shows that if you focus on learning early and work hard consistently, it is possible to achieve great success.
