Filmmaker Anurag Kashyap has heaped praise on actor Mrunal Thakur , calling her one of the most emotionally authentic performers in Hindi cinema today. In a candid interview, the 53-year-old director said Thakur consistently underestimates her own talent and that her ability to speak through her eyes sets her apart from most actors working in the industry.

Anurag Kashyap praises Mrunal ThakurSpeaking to India Today, Anurag Kashyap did not hold back his admiration for the actor, saying what makes her special is not conventional technique but an internal emotional connection that very few possess. He said, "She really underestimates herself. She has no idea how good an actor she is. She's a very good actor."

He went on to elaborate on what makes her approach distinctive, contrasting it with more typical acting styles. Kashyap added, "Actors, you know; they act with their hands, with their eyes, with all of that. But she feels things, and they translate through her eyes. If you see any random image of her from any film, generally, you know exactly what she's feeling; it's all there in her eyes. That connection with self, very few actors have."

Anurag Kashyap hints at a future collaborationDuring the same interaction, the director also revealed he has a role in mind for Thakur in a future project, one that would let her break free from her usual on-screen image.

"I have something crazy in mind for her. She's been wanting to let loose and abuse in a film for a while now, so whoever she wants to abuse, she can do it in my film."
