The first phase of the census has started from April 1, in which the counting of houses and their information (HLO) is being collected. The most important change this time is the facility of ‘self-enumeration’, which means that now people can fill their information online themselves. This had never happened before and this new facility will save people’s time and also provide them a lot of convenience.

What is self-enumeration?

Self-enumeration is an online facility through which you can fill family and house information in 16 languages ​​of your choice sitting at home. Its big advantage is that you will not have to rush and when the officers come to your house, just by showing an ID your work will be completed within minutes.

Know how to fill the form step-by-step

  • First of all you go to the portal, it will take you about 15-20 minutes.
  • Then fill the name of the head of the family, keep in mind that it cannot be changed later.
  • After this choose the language of your choice.
  • Enter your mobile number and verify it through OTP.
  • Enter your district, pin code and name of your area or any landmark and click on “Search”.
  • Set the exact location of your home by moving the ‘red marker’ on the digital map.
  • Fill in the answers to the questions to home. You can also save it in draft and submit the final later.
  • Save the 11 digit SE ID received after submission or take a screenshot of it.
  • When the census officials come to your house, show them your SE ID.
  • If your ID matches with the officer’s system, your information will be considered confirmed, otherwise the officer will enter the data again.

Digital census started in these states

The first phase of digital census has currently started in 8 states and union territories. These include Goa, Karnataka, Odisha, Sikkim, Mizoram, Lakshadweep, Andaman and Nicobar as well as New Delhi areas (NDMC and Delhi Cantt). According to the government report, on the very first day of its launch, about 55,000 families across the country have registered their information online using this new ‘self-enumeration’ facility.
