Thousands of users working on Android, iOS and web platforms were surprised when suddenly ‘Error’ messages started appearing on their screens. This chatbot operated by Anthropic came to a complete halt due to technical glitch in many parts of the world including India, due to which the work of professionals and developers got stuck midway.
What is the whole matter? Problems facing login and chat
According to reports, the problem started on Monday (6 April 2026) and continued intermittently till Wednesday (8 April 2026). Thousands of users have filed complaints on Downdetector that they Claude.ai But unable to login. People whose accounts were already logged in were taking hours to get a response or were seeing the message ‘Elevated error rates’. This problem troubled not only the common users but also the coding developers (Claude Code).
What did the company say? Anthropic gave clarification
Following the outage, Anthropic confirmed the issue on its official status website. The company admitted that Claude.ai‘Elevated errors’ have been observed on the desktop app and mobile versions. According to the company’s statement, “We have identified an issue that is causing errors in login, voice mode, and chat completion. Our team is working on a war footing to fix it as soon as possible.” Although the service was restored intermittently, users had to face the problem of frequent disconnections.
Why is the system failing again and again?
Experts believe that the sudden surge in popularity of Cloud AI is putting huge pressure on its servers. Recently Anthropic has seen manifold growth in its revenue and user base. Especially new models like Sonnet 4.6 After the arrival of the traffic has increased so much that the infrastructure is struggling to handle it. Apart from this, there are reports of some technical glitches even while the company is implementing new security patches and updates.
What options do users have?
If your Cloud AI is still not working, experts recommend waiting for some time or clearing the browser’s cache. Since this is a server-side problem, not much can be done at the user level. Alternatively, users are using Google Gemini or other AI tools during this time.
