Pratapgarh. District Agriculture Officer Ashok Kumar has told that farmers should not pre-store or stock fertilizers like urea, DAP, potash etc. in the district due to fear of any kind of shortage in the upcoming Kharif season. Providing quality fertilizers in adequate quantity on time is the top priority of the government and agriculture department.
All fertilizer sellers will ensure that fertilizers are distributed to farmers as per their khatauni. Giving more fertilizer without Khatauni or with less documentation will be prohibited. Fertilizers should be sold at fixed rates only and in no case should any other product be tagged with fertilizers.
He has directed all the fertilizer sellers of the district that every seller must clearly put up the rate board and stock board at his shop. It will be mandatory to record the quantity of incoming fertilizers and its details in the stock register continuously and regularly.
Strict action will be taken against any seller found involved in the sale and distribution of fertilizers, tagging, over-rating, black marketing and smuggling of other products under the provisions contained in the Fertilizer Inorganic, Organic or Mixed Control Order 1985 and the Essential Commodities Act-1955. In case of selling of fertilizers at a rate higher than the prescribed rate or forcibly tagging other products along with urea and other fertilizers by the shopkeeper, written information about the same can be lodged at the District Agriculture Officer office or on telephone numbers – 7839882339 and 9793096573.
So that punitive legal action can be taken against the concerned seller. He has appealed to the farmers to buy fertilizers only as per the requirement of Kharif season crops. Be sure to take the bill while purchasing. If you have any doubt about the quality of any fertilizer, immediately report it to the nearest agriculture employee or District Agriculture Officer office.
