IPL 2026 has seen Vaibhav Suryavanshi come to the party in grand style for RR. The 15-year-old slammed a 14-ball 39 vs MI to help RR win by 27 runs to top the table after 13 games. But his success is also inspiring a 24-year-old teammate. In a rare case, the junior player is motivating the senior one to up his game. The man in question is Yashasvi Jaiswal.

The Combo of Yashasvi Jaiswal and Vaibhav Suryavanshi

Jaiswal was involved in an opening stand of 80 with Vaibhav. Jaiswal finished with 77 in 32 balls. Jaiswal admitted it was Vaibhav who helped him up his game and bring out more shots. He added they did not have an elder-younger brother relationship and that has helped. Them giving RR good starts have helped RR in IPL 2026 and filled in the void left by Sanju Samson. Samson at the moment is struggling for form in CSK.

How Vaibhav Suryavanshi Is Motivating Yashasvi Jaiswal

“The way he has been playing, it's tremendous. He's working so hard as well, so I also get motivated - I feel like I need to develop some different shots too,” he said while speaking to the broadcasters.

“All the time we have these discussions, like how we can go about it. If he's taking on someone, I just keep giving him positive messages - that you can go after him, just play freely, khel bindaas,” he added.

“He's amazing and understands the game very well. He's quite capable of doing it himself. He's enjoying his game and playing unbelievably well,” he continued.

“I think I had something in my mind because it was only three overs of the powerplay. So I was thinking, how can I take down the overs, or who I can take down. The minute I saw Chahar bhai was coming, I thought I can take him on. Then Bumrah bhai came in, so I was thinking maybe Vaibhav can take on Bumrah, and I will try to pick someone else. So I just kept thinking who I can go after and what shots I can play. I was just quite into the game,” he went on to say.
