CUET UG 2026: There is a major update for students preparing for the Common University Entrance Test (CUET UG) 2026. The National Testing Agency (NTA) has issued an advisory for candidates whose application forms contain discrepancies regarding their photographs. If you have filled out the CUET UG form, now is the time to be vigilant; even a minor error could cost you an entire year.

The NTA has stated that, in many students' forms, the uploaded photographs are either unclear or do not comply with the prescribed guidelines. Consequently, students have been granted a final opportunity to utilize the correction window to rectify these errors. The NTA has allotted the period from April 7 to April 10, 2026, for corrections to be made by those students who have received an email or SMS regarding a photograph mismatch.

The CUET UG examinations are scheduled to be conducted between May 11 and May 31, 2026.

Why is an Accurate Photograph Essential?
According to the NTA, an Artificial Intelligence (AI)-based facial recognition system is utilized during the entrance examination. If the photograph uploaded in the form is blurred, outdated, or features the candidate wearing glasses or a mask, difficulties may arise in verifying your identity at the examination center. In such a scenario, you could even be barred from appearing for the examination.

In light of this risk, the NTA has commenced notifying—via email and SMS—those students whose photographs were found to contain mismatches or discrepancies.
New Guidelines for Photograph Uploads

The NTA has issued strict guidelines regarding the uploading of photographs while filling out the CUET UG form. These guidelines are as follows:
The background of the photograph must be white.
At least 80% of the face should be clearly visible.
The ears must be clearly visible, and the candidate should not be wearing a cap or headscarf.
Candidates are permitted to wear only prescription glasses in the photograph; however, there must be no glare or reflection on the lenses. Photos featuring sunglasses or tinted glasses will be rejected.
The photograph must not be blurry and should have been taken recently.

How to Correct the Photograph?
1. Visit the official website: exams.nta.ac.in/CUET-UG.
2. Log in using your Application Number and Password.
3. Click on the 'Correction Window' or 'Photo Correction' link.
4. Upload a new, clear photograph that complies with the prescribed guidelines.
5. Save the changes and take a printout of the confirmation page for future reference.
