The shoot of Vetri Maaran ’s Arasan has been halted over a longstanding dispute between its leading man, Silambarasan TR , and producer, Ishari K Ganesh . The Film Employees Federation of South India (FEFSI) is also said to have withdrawn its cooperation from Simbu’s ongoing projects until the issue is resolved. The conflict dates back to the time when Ishari Ganesh reportedly signed a project with STR right after Vendhu Thanindhathu Kaadu (2022) and paid the actor an advance of ₹5 crore.
However, the film failed to take off, with reports suggesting that the actor caused the delay.
We reached out to Ishari Ganesh and FEFSI president RK Selvamani for comments but did not receive any response until the time of going to print.
TR calls for Nadigar Sangam’s intervention
On Tuesday, Silambarasan’s father and actor, T Rajhendherr , shared an audio message in support of his son. He questioned how Arasan ’s shooting could be halted when the court verdict in the case between Ishari Ganesh and STR was in favour of the latter.
He added that he was opening up on the issue because FEFSI and the Tamil Film Producers Council shouldn’t be unjust. Calling for the Nadigar Sangam’s intervention to help resolve the dispute, TR raised a larger concern: “Even after a court has delivered a judgement, they are showing that they can stop an ongoing film shoot. I want to ask if this is justified?”
