This steel not only provides strength to the ship, but is also unmatched in withstanding the pressure and corrosion of the deep sea. The use of this indigenous steel has completely eliminated foreign dependence, which has also reduced the cost of warship construction.

Hidden from radar and armed with deadly weapons

This warship built under Project 17A has been provided with advanced ‘Stealth Features’. This means that it will not be easily caught by enemy radar. Talking about weapons, INS Taragiri is equipped with surface-to-surface missiles, modern torpedoes and air defense gun systems. This warship specializes in long-range surveillance and hunting enemy submarines.

New symbol of self-reliance: victory of Make in India

The launching of INS Taragiri is a testament to India’s defense manufacturing capabilities. It is built by Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders Limited (MDL). About 75% of the ship is made entirely of indigenous equipment and technology. This step will further strengthen India’s hold in the Indian Ocean, which will make it easier to face the challenges of neighboring countries.
