Patna: These days the market of discussions is hot in the politics of Bihar regarding the post of Chief Minister. The names of many leaders are in discussion within the BJP, but the maximum attention is on Samrat Chaudhary. His rapid rise in the party in just 7-8 years and his claim for the post of Chief Minister has brought him into the limelight. However, with this speed, uneasiness is also being felt in some sections of the party and ideological organization Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS).
Samrat Chaudhary: Rapid rise and pace of politics
Samrat Chaudhary started his political career by joining BJP in 2018. He comes from a backward caste (Koeri) and is known for his social expansion strategy in the party. In just a few years, he reached the important post of State President and has now become a major contender in the race for the post of Chief Minister.
However, this rise has raised questions among the organization and senior leaders. In BJP and RSS, organizational experience and ideological commitment are generally given importance. In such a situation, the fast progress of Samrat Chaudhary is also being seen by some sections as ‘shortcut politics’.
RSS’s perspective and organizational balance
RSS has always been ideologically guiding BJP. The priority of the Sangh has been to promote such leaders who have long experience in the organization and who can provide balanced leadership away from controversies. According to sources, within the Sangh, preference is given to such leaders who have wide acceptance. From this point of view, there is doubt among some leaders on the fast pace of Samrat Chaudhary. Traditional leaders of the organization, such as Vijay Kumar Sinha, have been preferred for greater stability and ideological balance.
Samrat Chaudhary’s belonging to a backward caste (Koeri) is a political advantage for him. Caste politics is important in Bihar and it is a strategic plus point for BJP to strengthen the non-Yadav OBC vote bank. But there is a feeling among some sections of the upper caste society that their representation is decreasing. Resentment over reservation and social issues has been seen in the state in the past. This resentment may increase further by giving preference to an OBC face for the post of Chief Minister.
