Assam Election 2026: A controversial statement by Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge has created a storm in the political circles. During an election rally in Assam, Kharge had compared BJP and RSS to poisonous snakes, after which BJP has filed a police complaint against him.
Kharge’s controversial statement
Kharge had said in the rally, “It is written in the Quran Sharif that if a poisonous snake comes in front while offering Namaz, then leave the Namaz and first kill it. Today RSS and BJP are the same poisonous snakes. If you do not kill them, you will not be able to save yourself.” This statement was given from the election platform, which BJP has called extremely objectionable.
BJP’s complaint and police action
BJP leader Ranjeev Kumar Sharma has filed a complaint against Kharge in a police station in Assam. The complaint was given in the police station located near the state office of BJP. BJP says that this statement given in the election rally spoils the political atmosphere and spreads hatred in the society. Police have registered the complaint and started investigation.
Giriraj Singh’s counterattack
Union Minister Giriraj Singh made a scathing attack on Kharge. He said that as long as BJP and RSS are in the country, terrorists will have no place. Giriraj Singh alleged that Kharge has caused a lot of harm to the country during his tenure and now he is upset and giving such statements. He said that Kharge lives with those who offer Namaz, that is why he gives such controversial statements.
Mamta Banerjee also targeted
Giriraj Singh also attacked West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and said that she is spreading confusion to win the elections. He alleged that Mamata Banerjee could not do any work in the state, hence she is raising the issue of SIR (Special Census) to avoid the public.
Giriraj Singh said that the situation in Bengal has become very bad and people are ready against them. There is no official response from Congress on this matter yet. Political analysts believe that this may increase controversy and tension during the election season.
