IndiGo aircraft hit by ground vehicle in Kolkata, plane damaged

New Delhi: A catering truck collided with a parked IndiGo plane after the vehicle lost control at the Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose International Airport, Kolkata, on Tuesday evening, April 7.

The incident occurred at Bay No. 51, where the plane was parked in the airport parking bay. According to the reports, the truck suddenly accelerated forward while starting and crashed into the engine of the IndiGo aircraft.

The aircraft sustained minor damage with no injuries reported.

Indigo released a statement after the incident, stating that “A third-party unmanned vehicle on the apron moved and came in contact with a parked IndiGo aircraft.”

The aircraft has been grounded and is undergoing inspections and necessary maintenance before it is cleared to resume operations.

IndiGo said that they’ll be closely working with the authorities to investigate the matter. The airline also confirmed that the aircraft was preparing to take off from Kolkata to Guwahati.

Now, with the incident that occurred, IndiGo is arranging an alternate flight to operate flight 6E 6663 from Kolkata to Guwahati.
