New Delhi: Centre has eased rules for the regularisation of residential and commercial buildings in 1,511 unauthorised colonies in the national capital. Residents in these colonies will now be able to get building plans prepared by any architect empanelled with MCD and apply for regularisation. Earlier, it was mandatory to have a sanctioned layout plan for the area - a requirement that has now been removed. The Centre has simplified the process of applying for ownership rights under Pradhan Mantri-Unauthorized Colonies in Delhi Awas Adhikar Yojana (PM-UDAY).
The government has conducted drone surveys of these colonies. These surveys will be repeated every 1.5-2 months and any additions (up to 1 metre by 1 metre) will also be detected. "To ensure there is no further unauthorised construction or expansion of these colonies, we have strengthened the enforcement wings of MCD and Delhi Development Authority," said Urban affairs minister Manohar Lal Khattar.
From DDA to Delhi Govt
From April 24, PM-UDAY portal will be transferred from DDA to the Delhi government's revenue department, which will be responsible for issuing conveyance deeds and authorisation slips.
