Why did air travel become expensive?
Air India has cited the huge rise in the prices of jet fuel (ATF) as the main reason behind this increase. The airline says that due to rising cost pressure it was a compulsion to take this decision. According to data from the International Air Transport Association (IATA), average jet fuel prices increased in the last week of March. $195.19 per barrel It has reached Rs. 99.40, which was just $ 99.40 at the end of February. That means oil prices have almost doubled.

Will there be a charge on old tickets also?
It is a matter of relief that passengers who have booked their tickets before the implementation date (April 8), will not have to pay this increased surcharge. The airline has clarified that it is still bearing a major part of the increased oil prices and these rates will be reviewed again in future depending on the market conditions.
