Election heat is at its peak across Bengal, and Naihati has become a unique focal point in it. At the ‘Barma’ Kali Mandir of this town in North 24 Parganas, the crowd of candidates is visible – everyone rushes to the door of the goddess in the hope of victory.
Center of Trust ‘Barma’ Kali Mandir
Naihati Boro Maa Kali Temple has been a center of faith for devotees for many years. Every day thousands of people come here to offer puja with this mantra ‘Dharma Jara Jara, Barama Sarba’. Earlier there were temporary idols but now permanent hard stone idols have been established.
Why is the political movement increasing before the vote?
Ahead of the assembly elections, political activity has increased in the temple premises. Candidates from all parties, from the ruling party to the opposition, are coming to seek Barama’s blessings. According to political circles, worshiping at this temple is seen as a ‘good omen’.
Who came to Barama’s door?
Several candidates including Sayantika Banerjee, Sanat Dey, Amit Gupta have already been spotted here.
Also leaders like Subrata Bakshi, Jay Prakash Majumdar have also come to offer puja.
Arrangement of special pooja for candidates
According to the temple committee, special arrangements have been made for quick puja in the crowd of ordinary devotees. So that they can quickly return to the campaign without waiting for a long time. General access is also restricted at times for security reasons.
Puja trends before nominations
Many candidates perform Barama puja before submitting their nominations. For example, Trinank Bhattacharya and Somnath Shyam went directly to submit their nominations through puja.
In the atmosphere of assembly polls, the crowd of political candidates is increasing at the Barama Kali temple in Naihati of North 24 Parganas. Everyone, regardless of anti-ruler, is coming to seek the blessings of the mother in the hope of victory.
