A big controversy has come to light in the politics of Assam these days, in which Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma and Congress leader Pawan Kheda have come face to face. In response to the allegations made by Pawan Kheda, Chief Minister Sarma has made a sharp counterattack and termed these claims as completely fake and misleading. He alleged that these documents were prepared with the help of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and foreign social media sources.
In fact, Congress leader Pawan Kheda had accused the Assam Chief Minister’s wife of having three passports. Responding to this, Himanta Biswa Sarma said that these allegations have no factual basis and it is a completely fabricated story. He claimed that the documents cited were not genuine but were prepared through Photoshop and AI technology.
Chief Minister Sarma further said that his investigation has revealed that the content of these documents was obtained from a Pakistani social media group. He alleged that the possibility of foreign interference in this entire matter cannot be ruled out and it could be a well-planned conspiracy to influence the election environment.
He also said that in recent times many media channels of Pakistan have given unusually high coverage of Assam elections. According to Sarma, in the last 10 days, many talk shows were conducted in Pakistan on Assam elections, in which an attempt was made to create an atmosphere in favor of Congress. Describing it as a very serious matter, he said that the investigating agencies should pay attention in this direction.
Himanta Biswa Sarma warned of legal action, saying that if a person makes allegations on the basis of fake documents, serious sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) can be applied against him. He said that in such cases, sections to fraud and forgery may be imposed, which have provisions for stringent punishment.
The Chief Minister also said that if such fake documents are used for the purpose of influencing elections, it becomes a more serious offense punishable with imprisonment up to life imprisonment. He informed that his wife has already lodged an FIR in this matter and expressed hope of appropriate action from the police.
Apart from this, Sarma also said that it has become easy nowadays for any person to create fake companies and documents at very low cost. He alleged that after the press conference, a new company was also formed, which was used to fuel this entire controversy.
This entire matter has created a stir in the politics of Assam. While Congress is firm on its allegations, BJP and Chief Minister Sarma are calling it a conspiracy. Political analysts believe that the emergence of such controversies just before the elections can further heat up the politics of the state.
At present, the matter is under investigation and in the coming days it will be interesting to see what new revelations emerge in this controversy. At the same time, this development has once again raised the question of how fake information and AI technology are being used as political weapons in the digital age.
