OTT releases this week: The second week of April brings a fresh wave of exciting OTT premieres across major streaming platforms. From the much-awaited final season of The Boys to intense thrillers, animated adventures and quirky comedies, viewers have plenty to add to their watchlist.

1. Star Wars: Maul – Shadow LordPlatform: JioHotstar
Release date: April 6, 2026
The week begins with a major entry from the Star Wars universe. Star Wars: Maul – Shadow Lord follows the feared Sith warrior Maul as he attempts to rebuild his criminal empire after the Clone Wars. Determined to rise again, Maul establishes a syndicate on a remote planet untouched by the Empire. The animated series features Sam Witwer as Maul, alongside Wagner Moura as Brander Lawson and Gideon Adlon as Devon Izara.
2. The Boys Season 5Platform: Prime Video
Release date: April 8, 2026
The wildly popular superhero satire returns for its final chapter. Season five opens in a darker world dominated by Homelander’s growing power. Hughie, Mother’s Milk and Frenchie find themselves imprisoned in a so-called “Freedom Camp,” while Starlight attempts to organise resistance. Meanwhile, Butcher resurfaces with a dangerous virus that could wipe out every Supe. The cast includes Antony Starr, Karl Urban, Jack Quaid, Erin Moriarty, Jensen Ackles and newcomer Jared Padalecki.
3. Big MistakesPlatform: Netflix
Release date: April 9, 2026
Dan Levy returns to television with a crime comedy packed with chaos and awkward humour. Co-created with Rachel Sennott, the eight-episode series follows siblings Nicky (Levy) and Morgan (Taylor Ortega). Their attempt to help their grandmother with a stolen jewel goes terribly wrong, dragging them into the world of organised crime. Laurie Metcalf appears as their mother, with Elizabeth Perkins, Abby Quinn and Boran Kuzum in supporting roles.
4. Thaai KizhaviPlatform: JioHotstar
Release date: April 10, 2026
One of Tamil cinema’s unexpected hits of the year finally arrives online. The rural comedy-drama stars Radikaa Sarathkumar as Pavunuthaayi, a tough village moneylender in Madurai. When she suddenly falls ill, her three estranged sons return home, each secretly hoping to find her hidden fortune.
5. Tu Yaa MainPlatform: Netflix
Release date: April 10, 2026
Directed by Bejoy Nambiar and produced by Aanand L. Rai, this survival thriller brings an unusual premise. The story follows Maruti (Adarsh Gourav), an aspiring rapper from Nalasopara, and Avani (Shanaya Kapoor), a popular influencer. What begins as a creative retreat soon turns terrifying when the two become trapped inside an empty swimming pool with a crocodile. The film is an official remake of the Thai thriller The Pool.
6. O’RomeoPlatform: Prime Video
Release date: April 10, 2026
Vishal Bhardwaj revisits Shakespeare through a gritty crime drama set in 1990s Bombay. Shahid Kapoor plays Ustara, a ruthless hitman who uses a barber’s razor to carry out his assassinations. When Afsha (Triptii Dimri) seeks revenge for her husband’s murder, an unexpected love story unfolds. The film also stars Nana Patekar, Avinash Tiwary, Tamannaah Bhatia, Disha Patani and Vikrant Massey.
