A remarkable opportunity for higher education has emerged for working youth in Uttar Pradesh. Those who were unable to complete their studies due to job or work commitments can now further enhance their qualifications. The Department of Technical Education has specifically launched a "Diploma in Engineering for Working Professionals" course tailored for such workers.

This course will not only strengthen their technical knowledge but also open up new avenues for career advancement. A key highlight is that admission to this program will not require a written examination; instead, selection will be based entirely on merit.

**Application Process and Deadline**
The Joint Entrance Examination Council (JEECUP) has initiated the online application process for admission to this course. Interested candidates may visit the official website to apply by April 30, 2026. The entire process has been designed to be online to ensure maximum convenience for working professionals.

**Course Duration and Structure**
This diploma course will be conducted in accordance with standard diploma regulations. It is a three-year, part-time program, making it easier for individuals to pursue their studies alongside their jobs. Candidates who already possess the necessary prerequisites may opt for direct admission into the second year through "lateral entry." This provides them with the opportunity to complete the diploma in just two years.

**Provision for Seat Reservation**
Three distinct courses will be introduced in each participating institution. If an institution has a total intake capacity of 30 seats, at least 10 of those seats will be reserved specifically for working professionals. This ensures that working individuals have access to better opportunities.

**Eligibility and Required Experience**
To secure admission to this course, candidates must possess the requisite educational qualifications along with a minimum of one year of industrial work experience. This criterion ensures that the benefits of the course reach those individuals who are already actively engaged in the professional workforce.

**How Will Merit Be Calculated?**
There will be no written examination for admission to this course. Selection will be based entirely on a merit score calculated out of a maximum of 100 points. Candidates will be awarded 50 points for securing a First Division in their High School examinations, 40 points for a Second Division, and 30 points for a Third Division. 10 additional marks will be awarded upon passing Intermediate or ITI. 10 marks will be granted for 1 to 2 years of experience, and 5 marks will be awarded for each additional year (up to a maximum of 30 marks). The application fee has been fixed at ₹300 for the General category. Meanwhile, the fee has been set at ₹200 for candidates belonging to the OBC, SC, and ST categories.
