The Royal Challengers Bengaluru vs. Chennai Super Kings match played on April 5 at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium turned out to be a highly competitive match which exhibited a blend of high-risk moments, mistakes, and recovery strategies to the spectators. The match focused on the dismissal of the wicket of Virat Kohli which was an important milestone for Chennai.
Introduction of the competition
Royal Challengers Bengaluru took charge after losing the toss, owing to the slower pitch condition. Virat Kohli and Phil Salt's partnership had started off slowly since they needed some time to prove their worth in the game. The pitch conditions were slower, making it hard for players to play their shots effectively.
Both the batters continued their prowess throughout despite the difficult situations. The two batters kept on switching places to score runs in any available scoring opportunity. RCB showed their capability to play for the whole match in a controlled fashion, leading to a steady total formed in the early overs.
How Kohli got out?
It is interesting how the fifth over proved to be crucial as Anshul Kamboj, a promising young fast bowler entered the fray. He delivered a short ball wide of off stump. Kohli decided to take on the ball with the bat, attempting to score off a front-foot shot.
However, due to the uncertain bounce of the pitch, the ball didn’t connect with the middle of the bat. It soared over the bat’s top edge towards the sky.
Dube completes redemption story
Shivam Dube stood as the fielder who caught the ball without making any errors. He took a clean catch to send Kohli back to the pavilion after judging the ball's flight.
The catch held significant value for Dube because he previously dropped Kohli during the innings. In the third over he missed a simple chance when Kohli was on just 9 runs. The mistake would have cost his team a possible victory but he redeemed himself through his secure catching skills.
Kohli finished his batting performance by scoring 28 runs from 18 balls which included two boundaries and one six. His fast innings ended quickly because he could not achieve a significant total.

Big celebration after the wicket
The event after the dismissal became the focal point for everyone present. Ruturaj Gaikwad, the Chennai Super Kings captain, showed a lot of energy as he celebrated the wicket.
He entered the field with great excitement while yelling and making fist-pumps. Dube also showed his emotional state after making the catch because he struck the ball on the ground while staring at the pavilion. The two players normally display different celebration patterns but they both showed how crucial Kohli's wicket became for their team.
RCB still in a good position
Royal Challengers Bengaluru maintained their batting progress after losing Kohli. Phil Salt maintained his excellent form by hitting aggressive shots to keep the score progressing. He played freely and punished loose deliveries.
Devdutt Padikkal also supported him well. He had already shown good form in the previous match and looked confident again. RCB quickly regained control because of their partnership which followed the wicket loss.
By the end of 16th over RCB were 172 with three wickets, Patidar is playing on 40 with 14 balls and Tim David is on 3 with 6 balls.
Match situation
The game maintains its balanced position. The Chennai Super Kings achieved crucial success through their wicket yet the RCB gained momentum through some good partnerships. The upcoming overs hold vital importance for both teams.
The RCB batting performance can advance to high running total if CSK fails to secure rapid wickets. The RCB batting lineup will achieve high scoring potential if they continue their present performance.
