The veteran Indian pacer Bhuvneshwar Kumar became the second Indian cricketer to have 200 wickets in the Indian Premier League. He achieved the record on April 5, at the Chinnaswamy Stadium, when his team, the Royal Challengers Bengaluru, hosted the Chennai Super Kings, defending 250 runs.

Before Bhuvi, it was Yuzvendra Chahal who had 200 wickets in the league. Currently, Chahal has 224 wickets after playing 174 innings. Bhuvneshwar has played 192 matches to have 200 wickets. His 200th wicket came in the very second over when he dismissed the youngster Ayush Mhatre.

Mhatre survived a ball right after Captain Ruturaj Gaikwad left. Bhuvneshwar delivered a back-of-length delivery, which Mhatre spooned to RCB captain Rajat Patidar in the mid-off.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar's extensive IPL career

Bhuvneshwar Kumar started his early career with the RCB. But he didn't get a game there. He had a short stint with the Pune Warriors India before he became a popular face with the Sunrisers Hyderabad.

He spent 11 years with the franchise, becoming their all-time leading wicket-taker with 157 heads in his bag for the Orange Army. His first title as an IPl champion came in 2016, while he represented SRH under David Warner's captaincy. That season, he took 23 wickets, earning him the purple cap.

Notably, he is the only bowler in IPL history to retain a Purple Cap, as he did in 2017 with 26 wickets. He even has a record of the most dot balls bowled in IPL, which is 1793, a record yet to be broken.

RCB bought him for 10.75 crore INR, and in his very first year, he played a crucial role in earning RCB their first championship after 18 years.
