Shreyas Iyer Reveals PBKS Mindset After Win vs CSK

Punjab Kings faced off against Chennai Super Kings in Game 7 of the 2026 Indian Premier League. That Thursday match unfolded under the lights at MA Chidambaram Stadium, April 3 setting the stage. Batting first, Chennai posted a total that looked competitive on paper. Yet Punjab’s chase never wavered, built instead on steady knocks rather than fireworks. Wickets fell here and there but momentum stayed with them throughout. A composed finish sealed it – five wickets to spare. Their streak remains unbroken after this commanding performance.

Once the win was sealed, Shreyas Iyer stepped up as captain of Punjab Kings, sharing thoughts on what drives their team through the season. Because improvement matters more than praise, he explained that players aim to inspire one another within the group, staying focused without needing approval from external sources.

“Well, it’s not planned, honestly speaking, but we’ve just decided in the dressing room that whatever happens, we are going to play a brand of cricket which is to impress each other, not others outside. So, that gives us a certain sort of clarity as well when we approach the game,” Shreyas Iyer said in the post-match presentation ceremony.

Iyer considers Priyansh Arya’s play

Punjab got off to a flyer because of opener Priyansh Arya’s knock versus Chennai Super Kings, Shreyas Iyer pointed out. His 39 off just 11 balls set the tone early, lighting up the chase right from the get-go.

“Absolutely. I mean, getting 39 out of 11 balls, that’s the start we require, especially when you’re chasing 208. I think it was better to bat on. But the way we started, it was 25 off 3 overs, and then suddenly they started picking up from there. But it is important that we remain calm, and also the over-rate is something that we should look up to right now,” Iyer said.

Arya knocked, then runs began to pile. Forty three came through Prabhsimran Singh while Iyer pushed his score to fifty. The board showed numbers climbing fast. Punjab Kings reached 210 inside 18.4 overs. Victory followed again, marking their second win in a row this season.
