Overview of IES and ISS Exams
The IES (Indian Engineering Services) exam is designed for engineering graduates aspiring to join the technical sectors of the Government of India. Conducted by UPSC, the exam consists of three stages: Preliminary (objective questions), Main (written/descriptive questions), and an Interview. Candidates who succeed are appointed as Engineers in various government departments.
On the other hand, the ISS (Indian Statistical Services) exam targets individuals aiming to work in government statistics and data analysis. A degree in Mathematics, Statistics, or Economics is required to take this exam. Similar to the IES, it includes Preliminary, Main, and Interview phases, with successful candidates being appointed as officers in national and state statistical agencies.
