Digital Banking Amid Bank Strike: Trade unions and bank employee unions across the country have called for a strike today, February 12th. Trade unions have called for a Bharat Bandh (Bharat Bandh). With several bank employee unions participating, the strike is likely to occur, potentially disrupting bank operations. Customers may face inconvenience due to staff shortages or locked branches of major public sector banks like SBI, PNB, and BoB. However, don't worry. You have other options for banking, as in the digital age, a "bank closure" doesn't necessarily mean a banking shutdown.
If you need money today or need to make an important transaction, you can use these five methods without interruption:
1. UPI and Digital Wallets: The Ultimate Support
Whether you're sending money or making payments in the marketplace, UPI services like Google Pay, PhonePe, and Paytm are fully operational. Bank strikes don't affect online servers, so you can easily make digital transactions.
2). ATM: Stop worrying about cash
If you don't have cash in your pocket, head to the nearest ATM. Most banks outsource cash loading at ATMs, so there's little chance of cash problems even during a strike.
3) 24x7 Mobile and Net Banking
If you need to transfer large funds through NEFT, RTGS, or IMPS, use the bank's mobile app or website. These services are available 24 hours a day. You can open an FD or request a checkbook from the comfort of your home.
4). Bill Payment and Recharge
There's no need to visit the bank for tasks like electricity, water bills, or mobile recharges. All these services operate in an automated mode, and you can complete them through payment apps or net banking even during a strike.
5). Card Swipe (POS) and Online Shopping
If you're shopping or need to pay at a petrol pump, your debit and credit cards will work as usual. POS machines and online payment gateways will remain fully functional.
You'll just have to wait for these tasks.
Digital services will continue during the strike, but some physical tasks are only possible in branches and may be delayed today:
Cash Deposits: Cash deposits will not be possible at bank counters.
Check Clearing: Check clearing may be delayed as this process relies on manual intervention.
Demand Drafts (DDs): You will have to wait until the next working date to issue a new DD.
Locker Access: You will not be able to operate your locker if the bank branch is closed.
Loan and Document Work: Meeting with the bank manager for KYC updates or loan-related meetings will not be possible.
If your work is urgent, you will have to wait until tomorrow, Friday, February 13th.
