WhatsApp now lets you save drafts for status updates
10 Dec 2025
WhatsApp has released a new update for its Android app, version 2.25.37.1, through the Google Play Beta Program.
The update comes with an interesting new feature that allows users to save drafts of their status updates.
The capability is being rolled out to select beta testers and is expected to reach more users in the coming weeks.
New feature enhances user experience
User benefits
The new status draft-saving feature is designed to improve the user experience by giving users more control over their content.
It comes in handy when a user starts creating a status with text, drawings, or stickers but wants to continue later instead of publishing it immediately.
The new saving tool saves all changes without forcing users to start from scratch.
Save button ensures easy access to drafts
Draft accessibility
The editor now features a save button at the top of the screen, among other familiar tools.
This makes it easy for users to save their status draft in seconds and continue editing whenever they want.
Along with this main button, some users may also see another type of save option when trying to leave the editor by hitting the back button.
System preserves all elements for reliable editing
Editing reliability
The system saves everything, including the overlays, text formatting, and positioning, so the draft opens exactly as it was left. This behavior creates a reliable editing environment, especially for those who invest time in detailed adjustments before deciding whether that update is ready to share.
