Bank holiday today 3 December 2025: The last month of the year 2025 i.e. December has started. This month brings with it severe cold, Christmas and New Year celebrations, but it also brings with it a lot of bank holidays. If you are thinking of going to the bank today (Wednesday, December 3) to settle any important work, then wait! First check whether banks are open in your city or not, so that you do not have to worry unnecessarily. According to the calendar of the Reserve Bank of India (RBI), banks will not function for a total of 18 days this month. This also includes the regular holidays of Sunday and Saturday. Where is the holiday today (3 December)? If you live in Goa, there will be no use in going to the bank today. Today, on 3rd December, banks are closed in the entire state of Goa. The reason is St. Francis Xavier’s Feast. St. Francis Xavier was a very respected religious preacher and this day is celebrated with great pomp in Goa. Special prayers and processions are taken out in churches, hence today is a holiday in government and private banks. However, apart from Goa, banks in other states (like Delhi, UP, Bihar, Maharashtra etc.) will remain open normally and you can do your work. When else will banks remain closed this month? The list of holidays in December is quite long. Banks will remain closed in different states due to festivals and local days. Note these dates in your diary: 12 December (Friday): Banks will remain closed in Meghalaya due to the death anniversary of ‘Pa Togan Nengminja Sangma’. 18 December (Thursday): There will be a holiday in Meghalaya in memory of ‘U Soso Tham’. 19 December (Friday): There will be a holiday once again in Goa as ‘Goa Liberation Day’ is celebrated on this day. 24 December (Wednesday): Christmas celebrations will begin in the North-Eastern states (Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland), hence there will be a holiday there. 25th December (Thursday): Banks will remain closed almost everywhere in India on the occasion of Christmas. 26th and 27th December: Christmas celebrations last longer in some states, hence banks in the North-East may remain closed on these dates also. 30th and 31st December: Also in the last days of the year. In states like Meghalaya, Mizoram and Manipur, banks will remain closed due to local festivals. There is no need to worry even if bank branches are closed, but nowadays there is no need to panic in the digital era. Your net banking, mobile banking app and UPI services will remain operational 24 hours. ATMs will also remain open for withdrawing cash. Therefore, if there is any emergency transaction, you can take the help of digital medium. While planning to visit the bank, just take a look at the holidays of your state.
