According to WhatsApp’s blog post, its ad mechanisms use the data of advertisements of users, along with the country or city, language and channels being followed by them, which users interact with. META said that it is not using private data like users’ phone numbers, messages, calls and groups to show the necessary advertisements. If a user has added his WhatsApp account to the account center of Meta, the company will use their account priorities to show advertisement.
The company said it is allowing companies and users to promote the broadcast feature of its channel WhatsApp in the Discovery section. This will allow selected creators and businesses to take membership charge from users to unlock special updates on the channel. The company said that these subscription payment apps will be made easy at the store, which will make the payment easier. Meta said that more than 1.5 billion people use status and channels daily.
Whatsapp has earned revenue through its WhatsApp business platform and click-to-Whatsapp Ed. WhatsApp said that advertisements and these features will be available at global level in the coming months.
